The Spirituality of Tomorrow

Welcome back! I hope you find everything you are looking for here. Thanks for visiting again!

The Catholic theologian Karl Rahner famously said “the Christian of tomorrow will be a mystic, or not a Christian at all.” Few people have impacted Christianity in this regard as has Fr. Thomas Keating. A Cistercian monk from St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado, Fr. Thomas has spent a lifetime in deep Christian practice, and in sharing the fruits of this contemplation with countless others. We were enormously blessed to host a dialogue with Fr. Thomas and Ken Wilber in April of 2006. In today’s featured video, Ken presents some of the foundational concepts of Integral spirituality.

    What I am talking …
What I am talking about there is simply evil.
The Bible says “flee from evil” not necessarily from evil people. Technically, we’re all have evil inside us to some degree. Sin is simply disobedience to God. Evil is knowing that God exists and knowing his will and still choosing to sin against him. I’m sure if everyone really knew if God exists, not just think that he exists, then there’d be more opportunity to be considered “evil” and not just ignorant. -have a good one

    With all due …
With all due respect… Did Christ AVOID “evil” people? No, he shined the light of love upon everyone with no discrimination. What is evil other than the ignorance of not knowing who and where you truly already are? To shun someone for being ignorant regarding their inheritance as a child of God would be itself none other than an act of ignorance. -Peace and blessings.

    This is amazing. I …
This is amazing. I would have never thought that there would be people brained washed like this by this guy. Given the times we are in, I am not so surprised. This man’s teachings are so much like those of Satan, the father of all lies.

    At video sequence 2 …
At video sequence 2:40 he mentions that Religion causes the most human suffering. Religion doesn’t cause it, humans do because of the evil and sin in our hearts. I believe that an important step is to learn to identify evil and stay away from it. I agree that awareness of the infinite and God is important on a daily basis.

    The question is …
The question is only deeper or higher stage of consciousness can integrate relatively lower stage of consciousness. On contrary, lower consciouness hardly torelate diffrent perspective.especialy when low consciousness hold the systemtic power, they would not respect the freedom of varies perspectives.

Almost all human suffering and human tragedy were caused by the conflict of defferent develop stage of consciousness.

    We need more …
We need more integral scientists, integral philosophers, integral pandits, and integral politicians and a way for these integral people as well in other occupations have a chance to contribute to development.
(pandit is a scholar, a teacher, particularly one skilled in Sanskrit and Hindu law, religion, music or philosophy.)

    This religion is …
This religion is being replaced or augmented by better re-ligion, a Latin word for reading, in this case, reading of the perceptions of the timeless and spaceless. The interpretation is key - a lot of destructive versions of this re ligion out there, unfortunately. We agree, it evolved, and evolves and will evolve, and it as a n entity is having trouble at being a uniformed entity and at the same time, a path of unification is at least theoretically possible: e.g. Integral Spirituality Center.

    Spirituality is …
Spirituality is which in some way had been conditioned by religion. I know that the practice of contemplation prayer, helps to reach a different “stage of mind” concerning to everything surrounding us…Living in a more councious, perceptive and sensitive spiritual life. And from there a continous learning facing life. Posibly that is why a lot of people that had a very strong spiritual experiences with God are against an “organized religion”…Just an opinion.

    I assume you mean * …
I assume you mean *monotheistic* religion. And of course you are quite correct. It HAS to die, because it’s silly. Future generations will laugh at the primitive deity-based religions.

Yes! There are some great ideas here. Read Wilber’s books. If you like the ideas presented here I guarantee you’ll like the books. If you weren’t ready for this stuff then its highly unlikely you’d have watched this in the first place.

    That makes no sense …
That makes no sense. Religion comes directly from spirituality. Religion evolves. Spirituality, if you believe in it, would be the constant and objective source we are trying to discover. Religion is the approach, the tools, the teachings, ect. It will change. We are linguistic beings. Until we evolve past language within consciousness, or give up spiritual quests (which are fundamental to humanity) there will be multiple forms of religion.

    religion is dying, …
religion is dying, spirituality is the truth. i bet in 100 years, there will be more spiritual people than religious people. religious people will try to deny it, but there is nothing to do about it. its part of evolution. somethings just get too old and become the past.

    Clearly you have …
Clearly you have missed the point entirely. Also, try watching the rest of the vids of this series, father gets quite involved, he’s simply listening intently. As for the notebook, pen.etc. - wilber writes notes as he listens, as it is a forum of discussion.

    Sniffer Wilber is …
Sniffer Wilber is talking about religion while a piece of furniture disguised as a priest sits by and prays to stay awake.
If there was a parrot perched nearby, then Sniffer would be telling us what it’s like to try and open a peanut with one foot and a beak.
Or maybe Sniffer would make like a parrot and put his foot in his mouth without using Yoga.
He’s good at putting his foot in his mouth.
Look at the pen in his hand.
    Will he ever sign off?
And the notepad? Does his mouth need notes?
